| ALICE
LOOKING FOR WONDERLAND
So far but so near. This is the fantastic world
of Alice, a non-existent place which incredibly looks like the one we know,
peopled with mad characters who strangely resemble us. The young protagonist
of our stories lives all alone in this world at all bewitched but yet amazing.
Alice is not in Wonderland, even if she would like
to be. No queens of hearts and crazy hatters then, but a crowd of small
creatures, talking animals, good night gnomes ready to tell worrying stories,
synthetic beauties and unusual fellow-travellers, against a bare and silent
background which does not exist, where you can sleep at night and take
a rest during the day.
Alice’s world is not a perfect one: it is a new
land, close and huge at the same time, a land to explore and to conquer,
a place where you can have extraordinary surprises as well as bitter deceptions,
full of amusing, dreadful, worrying, painful things. This place looks very
much like life’s stage: and, as a good actress, Alice can either play the
role of the protagonist or simply walk-on.
Here are Alice’s stories; in short 6 minutes episodes,
happy, sad, cynical, touching, ruthless, bad and good events alternate:
tiny foreshortenings over an incomprehensible world which resembles the
one where we live.
Alice is not a passive onlooker: she observes, comments,
discusses, sometimes judges, rarely condemns. In short single acts she
takes into consideration her lifestyle, which is also ours.
Personal relationships, loves, friends, daily life,
television from its worse point of view, with all its meanness; Alice is
not only this: the pursuit of happiness, the sense of life, the "who are
we", "where do we come from", "why do we queue in the cold to enter a full
up night club" are some of the questions Alice will try to find an answer
to...but she will have hard luck.
Quick tales, witty cues, meddlesome characters and
a protagonist at all distressed by protagonism mania: these are some of
the ingredients of "Alice".
